There's a big difference between torture and humane slaughter for food. Animals don't know the difference. Humans do.

That doesn't mean anything. Poachers and ignorant hunters don't care. Look at the 'protected' tigers in China. I posted a thread about a near extinct Jaguar shot then clubbed to death a few days ago.

Reading between the lines, its seems that the reasoning behind this is to indirectly criminalise the use of apes in pharmaceutical testing. I guess theoretically if someone were to kill or injure one they could be charged with a higher level offence than animal cruelty.

What does Charlton Heston have to say about this?! :wacko:

Perhaps the apes should have carried out their threat in that movie and lobotomised and castrated him. Missed opportunity there I think ;)
