Hello everyone I am planning to travel soon on may for around 3 weeks with my wife she has her extension letter we filed on August 2017 her green card expired on October 2017. Has anyone had any feedback or issue going to DR with extension letter. Booked on Delta airlines. Leaving from NYC anyone has had recent experience? Thanks.

Hey

I traveled to the DR july last year for a week, with the extension letter, no problems.

I presented the extension letter and the expired green card (just in case) to Delta personnel at the AILA counter, the girl was new so she asked a supervisor what to do with the letter, the supervisor  explained her what it was and told her to get a copy of it. The only thing that annoyed me was that the new girl started to question me where I was going, and the name of the airport, she wanted me to say the actual code of the airport and I told her not everyone knows the airports' codes (like...duh? lol) I really don't know if that was normal or just the new girl acting up.

I had a layover in Atlanta, and again, presented the expired green card and the extension letter to the CBP, again, no issues...just the usual questions, how long was I there, reason of my trip, etc. same questions I had the couple of times I traveled to the DR before with the conditional green card.

Hope this helps. Safe travel!

Cool thanks for the answer I am now more confident about it upon arriving did you arrived at santiago or capital? Any questioning in the dominican inmigration did you showed the extension letter? Thanks....

Capital (arriving and departure)

And the dominican inmigration....hmm...honestly I don't remember if I showed them the letter voluntarily or was it requested, but  I may have done so because the extension letter and expired green card were in the passport.  I guess that part of the process was uneventful otherwise I would remember it with all the details. I guess, if they ask you, just show them the letter :)
