I have a rather unusual situation, perhaps. I'm a US citizen by birth, but I live in South Korea and work there as an English teacher. My future wife's nationality is Indonesian. We are not planning to permanently live in the US, nor Indonesia, for at least a long time, maybe forever... yet we do want to visit family there together, etc.

Right now she is ok to visit on a tourist visa, since we aren't married, or officially engaged, yet.

But after we get married... we would have trouble getting a green card (I have no US residence, no strong ties to the US), and trouble keeping her status, since she would live mostly overseas and only visit the US occasionally (maybe a week or two per year). Yet I think there would be troubles getting a tourist visa, too, since she's married to a US resident so they would probably reject her under 214(B), ties to the US so probably not leaving afterwards... right?

Does anyone have any advice on this? Thanks so much in advance!

If your only planning to come to the US to visit, she should be ok on a tourist visa as long as you prove ties to where you are living and have a return ticket. Your pretty much at the whim of the goverment on it though.
