I used a fully paid off home as proof of asset and to fulfill the income requirement, in America a bank doesn't give a person the deed to the house until it is full paid off and so the whole idea of having a deed is proof of a paid off mortgage and no lein, regardless of providing a copy of the deed they sent my husband home asking for additional documents that prove that the mortgage is paid off and proof of ownership , I don't understand what I'm supposed to obtain since a deed is exactly that, what am I missing here? Please help

Where I live (GA), liens on property are recorded at the County courthouse.  When the lien is paid off, there will be a document recorded at the County courthouse specifically saying that the lien has been paid.  You might see if you could get this type document for your home.
