Hi everybody,

I had my immigrant visa interview at the US embassy on Jan 9. The officer said that ''you are eligible for your visa, but even though your police certificate is ok, there is another version of it and send it to us with your passport and we will issue your visa when we receive them''.  And she gave me the 221g slip.  My passport and Police Certificate was checked on the checklist.

Same day, I sent my passport and the certificate to them. On 17th, the embassy emailed me about they got my documents. But It's been almost two weeks after their email, and nothing has changed on my status. AP at Ceac, and ''Under Review'' at the embassy website.

The folks say it can take up to 6 months or even more. I emailed to the embassy three days ago, and mentioned that ''I've sent my passport 17 days ago and the status has not changed yet, I will have travels abroad and will need my passport in February.'' They replied ''my case is still under review but if urgent, we can send your passport back''.

The officer, at the interview, has said ''when we receive your docs, we will issue your visa''. But obviously those were not honest words. Some people say, if the officer gave you your passport back then you would wait for a long time. If so, I don't understand why she asked me to send my passport with the certificate.

I'm really confused. Next week, I need to go abroad for a month and I should ask to get my passport back.

What would you suggest to me?

Many thanks in advance.
