Seriously, other than the fact that you don't like the idea of another amnesty, do you have a better solution?

What do you do with all those aliens? You can't deport 10 million people, you know.

The solution is easy. Enforce the labor laws!! If we actively went after EVERY employer that hires undocumented workers and put them in jail the illegal immigration would stop! The ones that are here would go home on their own if they can't get a job.

Easier said than done. There are more employers in this country than there are illegal immigrants. Going after every single one of them is just not feasible, just like it's impossible for the IRS to audit every single person who files taxes. If everyone in America decided to cheat on their tax returns tomorrow, the IRS would have absolutely no way of stopping it. Of course, there's no need to go after EVERY employer -- just make an example of a few of them.

Exactly. Fine the first few business enough to make a serious dent into their earnings or put them out of business altogether and sent their managers up the river for a bit of hard time and I think the message will get out rather quickly. No more excuses, no more turning blind eyes.

Can we start by putting Wal-Mart out of business? That would send a pretty big message! ;)

Build a wall now!!!

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

This would certainly cripple the US economy. Deporting 10 million illegals costs a lot of money. Giving out fines to employers will certainly reduce jobs, and bankrupt some companies. Terrible.

Hiring officers to prevent protest march from getting violent. Operational costs.

It wouldn't cripple our economy at all. It would be good for our economy. We wouldn't be paying for education and health care for all those that are here illegally. If some company is basing their business on illegal workers then they deserve to go bankrupt.

That is perfectly true, the illegals in the UK are costing the country a fortune that they can ill afford in terms of housing, benefits and medical. Deportation should be implemented in as many cases as is humanly possible, increase the personnel if necessary who's salaries would be viable as more illegals would be sent out, saving medical expenses that are paid for out of collected taxes. At the same time, make an example of large to middle companies who do hire illegals by hitting them in the pocket with fines they would soon get the message. Stop the "under the table" jobs and they will stop coming in - just wish the UK would do the same

logistically, difficult--but not impossible.

(also, lots of CF's in India talk quite similarly--as there is a cumulative total of 23 million illegal immigrants in India--21 million from Bangladesh plus 1.95 million from Nepal, Sri Lanka and Burma; maybe they know something that mawilson doesn't?).

Damn right. mawilson knows that the United States holds itself to a higher humanitarian

standard than India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Burma put together.
