Renewing drivers license on ROC

Has anyone had experience they can share whenthy had to renew their NYS drivers license while ROC application is in the works?

we are in NYC.

ROC received in Vermont: Sept 1, 2017

ROC/Biometrics checks cashed: Sept 6, 2017
