Anyone know how strict they are about Certified Copies of Police Records and Court Records? Thease are minor Drinking related Arrest ,20 to 30 years ago and it would be very difficult to obtain Certifield Copies, I have Stamped Court Approved Copies ,will that be sufficent or will it cause A RFE? any related experience with this issue would be welcomed. Thank you in Advance. :help Tim & Janice

In filing petition? No need certified copy. Just a copy is fine as stated in the instructions. All they need is the copies of documents.

I'm in kind of the same boat as you. My USC lover has 3 DUIs and we've been stressing about the paperwork. Court copies are easy enough to get - as long as you just want the disposition, but if you call the cops and ask for certified police reports they demand a subpoena - way too much expense for us at the moment, especially since that the 3 DUIs were issued by two different counties, and the CHP.

even getting normal/uncertified police records involves a barrage of questions about why, and a continued barrage of suggestions that court records should be enough.

Anyway, we're just going to file with the certified court records and see what happens. In the meantime my g/f will pursue the police and round up copies of her records, in case we get an RFE on the issue. I reckon that the delay caused by an RFE when we have the papers will be less than the time spent waiting to get the papers in the first place, and no one seems certain that you actually need them for DUIs anyway.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding things here, but my reading of your question indicates that you, the US Citizen, are the one with the DUIs. Correct?

If this is the case, then police and court records are not required. Those documents are needed for your fiancee.

Sorry, I forgot about the new IMBRA requirements (they came along after I finished my processing). I guess that you are concerned about the 3rd bullet under Section C question 2.

Just ignore what I said.

Yes, I dont have any DUI"s but i think I have it fiqured out some places says just copies and others say must be Certified, no longer require Certified , so it is kinda confusing filing with Copies and see what happens. Thank you for your response !
