And don't forget, if you did pay them less, in the future you might get loaded comments pertaining to this very fact. "Could you do this for us? Well, you DID get Granpa's van cheaply"...etc etc

I always say don't deal with family of friends this way, especially if you are getting a deal that seems to good to be true (if you bought it for less than the $7000 obviously!).

No...my family isn't passive aggressive or manipulative like that, thank god. We do favors for each other because we love each other, not so we can lord it over each other.

The vehicle was just serviced to the nines and is in perfect working order; 5 weeks ago my mother and uncle had the car equivalent of a D check, bow to stern, because they worried about the car breaking down (which it never has before) and stranding my elderly grandfather. Unfortunately he collapsed and died shortly after that. :crying: So...I don't have any worries about the car's condition. It's a Dodge and while I've had bad experiences with Chryslers before, I have to admit that they were 100% about body integrity and 0% about engines, and Chrysler is supposed to have improved a lot on body integrity since I last owned one. I've never had a Chrysler break down on me...except when the clutch on one failed after racking up 150,000 miles...and I drove them for 10 years.
