Interesting on the locations. And the fee went up as of Apr 1 (or so the form said - I think there are some here who got charged 170 before April 1...!)

Ok - another question for K1ers. Looking at form DS 156, question 18 says to give spouse's name (even if divorced or separated). If you've been married before, do you really put the ex's name there? That seems retarded to me, even with the question before that asking your status (where you'd obviously put divorced).

The example form on VJ - their status is 'single' so its of no help.

 I vaguely remember a question like this, confusing! I think we finally went with current spouse, yet the whole even if divorced or seperated bit made no sense...... isn't your spouse if you are divorced now is it?:yes::P:wacko:

Grats on getting your next step underway!

Bethanie

That makes more sense if you're already married to the USC - but if you're fiance/e's - not so logical!

Do a big fat N/A on there then!

I'd be fine with that - IF it didn't say 'even if divorced or separated'. That's the bit that's throwing me off!

Someone will be along shortly that can give you an answer. Shame we couldn't answer some of those questions with answers like....are you really this stupid. We found so many c*ck ups when filling out the forms it became humorous.

Just asked my fiance what he did for the form for his (failed visitor visa attempt) last time he filled out the form. He wrote his ex-wife's name and ticked the "divorced" box.

So I guess, just answer it how they ask it. I think it'll all work out fine.

Because it says, "clan or tribe", I told my husband to write in, "I am Connor MacLeod of the Clan MacLeod", and be sure to take his sword to the interview with him. I'm sure they'd appreciate it. ;)

Its just too funny. I love all the questions, they make me giggle.

Recently we were watching a movie or something were someone said how on the little VW form you get asked if you were part of nazi germany and my husband laughed thinking that was a joke and I said no, we seriously get asked that.

Perhaps, I shall be in a tribe/clan and was also part of the nazi government

And btw, that all was just funny joke, I understand these questions must be asked, and in no way am I showing any disrespect to anyone but its also has me laughing.

 What's funny is that Chas has Scottish heritage on both sides of his family, and his (second) middle name is STRICTLY Scottish. Perhaps he should answer that question in a similar fashion - I'm sure they'd love that!

I think Timsdaisy is right about the form - answer it how it is asked. If they think by now that he is still married, then obviously we would not have gotten this far (aside from the fact that he'll have his original absolute divorce decree with him).

Still find it a bit of an odd question, though (at least for fiance visas).

I think its a generic form though, so it is weird but hey, sounds like timsdaisy's answer would be right! I didn't have to deal with that part of it all.

Chas just phoned to say he got packet 3 today. :D:dance:

Looking over everything, he had one question about the price list that they enclose for the medical. They list the 170 pounds fee, the 85 pound fee (for children), and then a 90 pound fee for 'bacterialogical examination of sputum'.

They don't list that 90 pounds as an extra - it reads as if 'you will have this done', but I don't remember anyone here mentioning that they paid more than the 170 pounds. So what gives? Is this a test they'd do if they discovered you had TB or what?

LOL i totally miss read that.... for a minute there I thought it said "examination of the #######" jajajaja.
