Hi All,

I feel this is a bit of a dumb question and a bit OCD as well, but Ill admit this popped into my head and now I'm worried...again...I hope this is not too hard to follow, and please be kind, its my wife I'm worried about here and I know I should relax a bit, easier said than done.

My wife had her N-400 interview yesterday, we had forgotten a previous address on part 5 history of where you have lived since getting LPR. I want to stress its NOT our current address. So at the interview before she raised her right hand, she stated she had some corrections to the N-400 to make, the very nice IO said OK we will get to that and lets continue. She took the test first, passed no issue.

Then they went over the N-400, my wife noted she forgot part 2 (maiden name) and the IO filled it out on her app (note we had corrected pages with us but she did not take them). Then we got to part 5 about previous addresses, my wife noted we had forgotten a PREVIOUS (SHE DID SAY THAT) apt we lived in a year ago we were not sure how we forgot it but the only reason we could think of was that it was such an insignificant move (5 feet across the hall, same building just diff apt. #, we moved from 140 to 139). my wife said she just wrote it down, continued on with other questions no issue. The interview was 10-15 min and she came out with the congrats checked and they told her ceremonies are backed up right now (we are in Kansas City) about 5 months due to a backlog for oath ceremonies. no biggie..

Here is where my OCD kicked in and I got all worried last night when we should be celebrating. In my head I said "what if the IO misunderstood that we were only adding a previous one and she thought we were changing the current address?" I asked my wife if she saw the OI cross out anything or adjust the current, she said she could not really see and wasn't sure but did not think so, but now I made her worry. Again guys a lot of this is me over thinking which can cause probs that are not even there, but now Im worried that they misunderstood and changed our current address meaning we wont get the ceremony appt letter. we really have no way to know.

I called the customer service, they said they cannot verify things like this and we would need to do an info pass to verify what address they have. here are my questions to the group?

1. Am I going crazy? :)

2. I'm worried if we ask about it, more suspicion could be raised? We did nothing wrong except forgot an address on for app, and we corrected it at the interview.

3. should we schedule an info pass now, or wait? Keep in mind the interview was yesterday. The customer service said maybe I should wait a few days until the online status says "in line for ceremony"

4. one last time to be clear, we made a correction to an old address, but im worried they misunderstood and may (or may have not) have adjusted our CURRENT address to the old APT (140, we live in 139)

5. any other options? Are we in trouble?

6 Will doing another AR-11 going form same address to same address AFTER the interview make this more confusing?

I know I know, frantic never gets us anywhere, but when family stability is on the line that what happens to me.

Thanks for any guidance anyone can give. Apologies if this was super confusing.

Hi thank you for your response, I do realize we have done what we can in the interview, we were truthful and tried to correct it, I just feel this nagging anxiety that somehow it was misunderstood and that they thought we were maybe correcting our current address, which is NOT the case. Does anyone know what I can do to verify they have the right address without making this more complex or suspicious?

1. Yes, you are

2. During the interview, you mentioned it to the IO and they had the chance to make a note and update the record - they ask you to be truthful and your wife was exactly that. At the end of the interview, your wife signed the iPad to say that all the revised N-400 info was correct and true and this should have shown which parts of the N-400 the IO had changed. You corrected it at the interview and that was the right thing to do.

3. Don't schedule an Infopass. Just let them process you through the next stages of quality assurance, oath scheduling and oath invitation.

4. It would likely have been a bigger issue had you forgotten to advise them of your current address, so I don't think they have changed your current address. If you have a myaccount.dhs.gov account then you will get a PDF copy of the oath invitation letter that they send you once the oath is scheduled and you will be able to see the address it was sent to there. If you don't have this account, then just use the Check my Case Status on the uscis.gov website using the link below and use the NBC or IOE reference number of your wife's case to see what the status is (you can set up an account for free that will text and email you automatically when the case status changes).

https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/landing.do

There is a 'Sign Up' option on this page and I would suggest you do this as it will give you some additional peace of mind as you can then receive the automatic texts/emails as the USCIS completes the next stages of their process.

When the case status changes from 'submitted for quality review', it will then change to 'inline for oath ceremony' to 'scheduled for oath ceremony'. A few days after the status changes to Scheduled for Oath Ceremony, your oath invitation letter should show up in the mail (it took about 4-5 days for mine to arrive here in Los Angeles). By signing up for the online case status above, you will know immediately when they schedule the oath ceremony (as you will get a text/email) and then if the letter hasn't shown up 10 days or so later by mail, you can schedule the Infopass to request a copy of the oath invitation letter.

5. Best option in this case is do sit tight and wait and let them do their job and process the rest of your wife's naturalization

6. Don't send an AR-11. It was dealt with properly at the interview and will likely either confuse them or delay the processing, or both.

If the IO told you wife she has passed and is being recommended for approval they would have also given your wife the piece of paper (Form N-652) with 'Congratulations - we are recommending you for approval' or 'A decision cannot be made at this time' checked on it along with the boxes next to the Civics and English test passes being checked. This means that the next stage for the process is that your wife's file is reviewed by the IO's supervisor and then passed on to their oath scheduling team.

Texaco, thank you that's just the sound advice we needed my gut told me sit tight I am creating "what if scenarios" but my fear said "take care of this right now" i have checked the web status it still shows sent letter for interview I'm sure that was because the interview was just yesterday.

i will continue to check and follow the instructions above.

can I sign up for myaccount/dhs/gov or do I need something special or permission for that?

again thank you very valuable advice...I'm pretty good on the field but for me pre game jitters and what if's are a mofo!!

Thanks. To get the myaccount.dhs.gov account, you would have had to send in an additional form with your N-400 application (I forget what the Form number is) and there is only 30 days after they receive the N-400 and this 'e-form' for you to activate the account. So, if you didn't send the form, then you can't have an account however setting up an account with https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/landing.do is a very good alternative as it still sends out notification emails and texts if you set it up to do that using your wife's IOE/NBC reference number. It will be clear once you set it up, if you haven't done so already.

I understand the concerns particularly since this process typically takes so long and there is so much negative press about immigration at the moment, however having gone through the process of changing/checking/adding some minor details at my own interview earlier this month, this "isn't the IO's first rodeo" as it were and you should just sit back and enjoy the rest of the ride to the finish line. The hard part is very much behind you both.
