jewelry sale?

has anyone here ever tried to sell jewelry they made and had any success with it? i'm exploring little options for a little extra cash......

I make jewelry and have had a hard time making money...not just recouping the cost of materials. It's frustrating because sometimes I think people think handmade=should be cheap. I have a fair coming up at the end of April and again am having a hard time deciding how to price items. Hubster says I should be charging more than I do because if prices are too low, people won't think it's of any value, while I'm afraid if I charge too much, they'll think it's too expensive. It seems to be a fine line which I haven't figured out yet. I look at a posh department store near me and see what they charge for similar items and am shocked, thinking I could never get the same for an identically made item. But they can get the money because they carry a posh name. grrrrrrrrrrrrr...!!!

I love making the jewelry and feel a sense of pride and happiness when I see someone wearing something I've made. I think how cool...they got dressed this morning and when they were deciding what jewelry to wear...they picked MINE...something I made!!!! It's that that keeps me doing it....so I can only hope that the longer I make it, the better I'll get at deciding prices and I'll start to make money, not just breaking even.

I wish I could offer advice. I have thought of eBay as a way to sell it, but there is so much on eBay and I'd rather have direct interaction with a customer.
