Spouse, Child & Parent (petitions alltogether)

Hi.

I just want to ask on behalf of my cousin.

He is going to petition his wife, son and his mother.

I know he can submit all the petitions all together on the same packet, only separated each approval in an envelop.

We wanted to know if one of the applications is incomplete, say, his mother is missing a document (i.e. Marriage certificate) will it affect the other 2 applications? Will that cause a delay for everyone eventhough only 1 gets an RFE?

Does the approval rely on the completeness of ALL the petitions?

Also, can he ask if they can process the petitions separately? Like he will mail his mom's i130 packet today then his wife and son's next week? Would that be considered as separate processing?

I ask because the only concern is that it will cause a delay for his wife and kid. They already know they're missing a document that could cause an RFE. But to get that it will take 2months to gather. And the wife wants to go ahead and send theirs.

No, since they're separate cases, if the mother's petition receives an RFE, then it will not affect the other two cases. The petitions will be processed separately and the approval of one does not rely on the completeness of the others. If he wants, he can submit one today, and another next week. It doesn't make a difference if he decides to submit them the same day too.
