I had my AOS Interview on the 10th of January and was recommended for approval. I was told that within 60 days, I would hear from USCIS and get my green card in the mail.

However, I haven't even had a single touch. I know one needs to be patient... I wasn't touched for 2 months previously and everything worked out fine but I am wondering if I should make an infopass appointment regardless.

I've waited my 60 days and just want to know what the status of my case is. Should I make an infopass appointment?

Do you know if you have cleared the FBI namecheck?

I did clear the name check. I was told by my interviewing officer that my name had cleared the name check which is why my interview wasn't cancelled.

Infopass is your best bet, I would say. If its too far to go you could write to your DO, inquiring about case status. Its likely that your case is sitting on some pile waiting for a supervisor to pull the trigger, so a letter or Infopass will probably prompt them into action.

BTW I also had an unexpectadly long wait after my interview, although in my case I got my Green Card about 2 months after the interview (when I was told "You're approved, you'l have your GC in 2 weeks").

Well, the DO isn't far from me, but I'm not sure if they have appointments on the weekend or after 5pm. It takes me about 25 minutes to get there. I suppose I could write a letter. That's a really good idea. I will write one today! Thanks for the suggestion.

My husband thinks we're jumping the gun... since the processing times say they are only working on cases from July of 2006. We sent our AOS out in September of 2006. However, the interviewing officer gave me a time frame of 60 days... and that I'd hear back from them by then and should expect the GC around that time.

What should I go by? Processing times or Interviewing Officer?

The worse that can happen is that they tell you to wait. I don't see the harm in an Infopass or letter, personally. If your case was really approved, then there is no good reason why you should have to wait so many months for your GC.

My thougths exactly. I said what's the worst they can do, tell me to wait longer? We'll send out the letter tomorrow. Thanks for the advice :)

It took me 5 months to finally get my green card in the mail, and all went perfect at the interview. My lawyer resent the paperwork thinking that the card must have been lost in the mail, but they hadn't even processed it yet, and no one seemed to know what happened to it...it magically ;) appeared in the mail about 3 weeks after that with no explanation......probably was sitting on the wrong desk or something, but we did get it finally......I'm sure that we would still be waiting for it if we hadn't checked in to it though, so I would do that if it takes too much longer...infopass would be the best way if you are doing it yourself.

good luck.
