I thought it was only K-1 and DCF CR-1/IR-1 that book their own and those of us being processed by the NVC still wait for our interview date to be sent to us?

Damilolly - is your time, one correct that you are an F-1? If so, I'm sure you also fall into the category of having your interview assigned for you by the NVC as the NVC process F-1 category immediate family visas.

Hi JFH, Yes, I'm F-1 my dad filed for me.

Wait to get the interview date from NVC. You will have 4-5 weeks before the interview to attend the medical. Make sure you go at least a week before the interview so your results get to the embassy in time. The shots you need are listed in this K1 thread, first post. The only difference is you MUST have all your shots before the interview, where a K1 can get a visa without shots. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/474161-london-k1-a-complete-guide-do-not-post-questions-in-thread/

Thanks Nick.

I know you've posted that to help me prepare but for a moment I felt slightly overwhelmed that there's still so much to do. Lol!

I didn't grow up in England so my GP won't have records of my vaccinations; from your post it's best I get that sorted asap and then book the medical. I rang Knightsbridge doctors and appointments are currently for the 1st of June if anyone is wondering.

Thanks so much! Xx

It wasn't meant to overwhelm you. I only wanted you to find the shot list so I didn't have to type it again. The rest of that post is K1 stuff. So--

If you don't have a shot record, no problem. There are four adult required shots and some can be excused.

1) MMR- get one and time it so four weeks have not passed before your medical. Then you are excused from Dose 2 for "insufficient time interval" because the doses have to be more than four weeks apart. You never have to get dose 2 if you time it right.

2) Tdap- covers Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis.

3) Varicella- they don't give that shot in the UK. Your visa medical will excuse you from it for the reason "not routinely available". Or if you had chickenpox as a child, you tell them and they excuse you for "Varicella history". you never have to get the shot.

4) Influenza- you are excused from that for the reason "not flu season".

So basically you need 2 shots. Maybe your GP will give them free. Or you can just pay for Knightsbridge to do them at your medical. The reason you have to be complete is because your visa become a greencard as soon as you enter the US. A K1 fiancé has to apply later for the greencard so they can put off getting their shots until they apply for that in the US.

Don't book your medical until NVC gives you an interview appointment,

Thanks so much Nick! You're very helpful!

I've rang my GP and will ring again tomorrow to book an appointment for early June as the nurse is fully booked for next week and June isn't open yet.

Once I get an interview date I'll book my medical. :)
