Welcome to LA, bec! I am a former Valley resident (2 years in Burbank) who escaped over the hill down the Sepulveda Pass into the Westside. Where are you located in the Valley? I still have a number of friends who live up there (including my now ex-husband who moved over here to the US with me, but looooooves it up there and stayed when we split) and am familiar with Burbank, Van Nuys, Valley Village and Studio City, if you need to know where good stuff to do can be found.

Great little Thai place on Beethoven and Venice, looks tiny and grotty, but the food is great!

Ribs at Morfias, once again a tiny little shack, its near Brennans pub on Lincoln

And J Nichols which is on Glencoe and Mindanao

But there are a ton really!!
