Hi there,

I am applying for a K-1 visa. All that is missing from my application before the interview is my unabridged birth certificate and police clearance.

Has anyone recently applied for an unabridged birth certificate? The Department of Home Affairs estimated up to 6 months. Has anyone made use of docassist? They claim to be able to expedite the process.

Any information would be useful!

Thank you!

I went to Paarl Home Affairs and got my certificate back within a month. This was because the first two sent (@ 2 weeks and then @ 3 weeks) both came back with errors. Third time lucky i guess.

I know a few SA Expats use Docassist or similar and have all had good experiences.
