Registering for Courier IR1/CR1 and new passport

Hey everyone,

So I have my interview scheduled in January and my medical actually next week (wanted to get it out of the way before the holidays and not to have to worry about it when I get back from visiting family).

I want to register for the courier service at the ais.usvisa-info.com that you get in the instructions but have a bit of a concern. After I filled out the DS-260, I ended up renewing my passport the month after. I still had 11 month on it but I figured better to get a new one before going to the US and not having to do it once outside of Canada.

On the form it says that all the info should match my passport and the DS-260 or it will cause a delay.

So should I put my old passport number or my new passport number? I am worried it not matching the DS-260 will mess something up. I found one post on here where someone said use the old one but there wasn't much other info for not really sure.

I am probably stressing over nothing but don't want something stupid to cause an issue. I obviously will tell them at the interview that I renewed my passport after the DS-260. And I have my old passport so will bring that to the interview also.

Anyone have something similar in the past?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I would suggest using the old passport number and advise them at the interview of your new passport.

You will probably need to take your passport to the medical, so it might be a good idea to take both with you.

I know how you feel about small errors/mistakes messing up everything. We went to have the final passport pictures taken for my husband last weekend and they took the picture so fast that his big bulky winter jacket was still on. After waiting for the pictures we realized that that could be a problem so we had them retaken (at no additional charge) with his jacket off. What seems like a small thing could have really messed us up in the end.

Yeah that is what I was thinking but just wasn't sure.

I never thought about the medical and my passport (I knew I had to bring it but didn't think about old or new). I will bring both. Mind you I am not sure that they will know what to do with that haha.

My concern with taking the old passport only to the medical if it was marked as invalid (corner cut-off) or something like that they might wonder.

Again, trying to prevent any issues if at all possible.

Hey Brentos,

I had a quick question....how to register for the courier services ? I went to the website and could not find any possible way to register for courier services. As you have already done this step could you please advise me of the steps as to how you did it ? Thank you for any help

I was able to signup, used my old passport number. Right now it says my status is "Check DS-260 status" not sure what that means. But when I click it (it is a link) it brings me to ceac and when I enter my case number it says ready...so I guess that is good. HAHA

The link in my email didn't work as it was trying to use some state department redirect site that doesn't seem to be done right. I went to the url it shows at the end https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-CA/iv

Then you click the word "Register" that is step 1. It then lets you sign up. Then it brings you to a page with 4 options. The first one of which is to register and IV interview appointment (or something like that, I forget the wording exactly). Then it asks you for info on the next page (name, date of birth, passport number, case number and DS-260 number which is the confirmation number from when you did the DS-260).

Then once that is done it will bring you to a page that then has a button to continue to register for a pickup location.

I hope that is helpful. I didn't think to write down the exact steps and exact words so I am just going off of memory. I actually only did it 15 minutes ago and didn't see your message till after. Otherwise I would have taken notes for you.

Don't forget to print out the confirmation it gives you (or at least save it as I did to print later, I print everything to PDF first), it says you need to bring it to the interview.

Thanks for the info Brentos... It worked. Thank you....

I also had to replace my passport in the middle of this process. I had used my old one for ds260 and don’t know if I use my old one to sign up for the courier before my interview or use my new one?
I’ll take both to the interview. Just don’t want to cause any delays. Any help would be much appreciated!!
