Hello,

I came to the US with a Fiance visa. I've been married and a permanent resident for over 5 years.

Not long ago I started the naturalization process. I selected Option 2 under part 1 of the N-400 form (Have been a permanent resident of the US for at least 3 years. In addition, you have been married and living with the same US citizen spouse for the last 3 years )

I got my fingerprints and picture taken and I'm waiting for the naturalization interview that should happen around February.

Lately, my marriage has gone downhill and I don't know if it will last until February. My question is, will a divorce have any negative effect on my application.

Thanks in advance for the responses.

When you get to the interview, you should express that you wish to amend your application, to file under the 5 year rule. Honestly, you should have filed that way from the start. Marriage issues, or not.

Hello,

If you are not with your spouse at the time of interview, your Naturalization will get denied.
