Hi all,

I have received an interview date from the Sydney consulate on 20th October.

Due to prior work arrangements, I would be unable to travel to the US to be with my fiance until around January 22nd 2016.

I have type 1 diabetes which I assume will be classed as a type B medical condition by the panel physician. It is however well controllled, I have no complications and my partner has health insurance which under obamacare will cover me for pre-existing issues. So I don't see this being a problem in terms of qualifying for the visa.

However, I have read that having a class B condition means that the medical examination may only be valid for 3 months. Since I have to have the medical prior to October 20 but I cannot travel until January 22nd I am concerned about this scenario arising.

Does anyone have more information about this? Has anyone who has been through this process in Australia only qualified for a 3-month medical certificate? Under what circumstances has this occurred?

I am considering trying to reschedule my appointment with the consulate but don't want to cause any additional delays either. Just would like to have the process completed.

Thanks.
