I am filing my N -400 and has a question on part 5 about parents/adoptive parents.

I was adopted by my stepfather when my mom married him in the Phils, I was just 14 yrs old then. However, he wasn't able to finish the legalization of my papers.

It was thru my mother that I got legalized and she is still a permanent resident.

My question is, what should I put in the question about my father. He was a US citizen and born here in Ohio, he died 1993. ANd he was not the one who petitioned me.

Should I just answer N/A? or still put his information and just provide another sheet explaining that I got the greencard thru my mom, and not from my adoptive US citizen father who did not file papers for me to be legalized when he was still alive.

Please help, I want to submit my application ASAP.

Hello Bob,

do you remember how you filled out your N-400 on part 5. Did you leave the info blank about your us citizen father or you still filled it out and just explained that even if he was a us citizen before You turned 18 he did not finalize the papers therefore you cant be an automatic us citizen.
