The Joint Bank Account and other evidence.

I am just curious as to how crucial this part of evidence really is. I do have a joint bank account with my wife, but only half of my income goes into it. However, all of hers goes into it. I have a separate account from her that has our savings and the other half of my income. The only reason it is this way is because I am very familiar with our online banking and I take care of paying all the bills so I just figured I'd leave these accounts the way they had been in just my name.

Will this look bad? I'm just realizing that it was stupid to not have her name added to my other accounts. Is it too late? We have a few more months before filing for ROC.

Our credit card is joint, and that's what we use to buy everything anyway. Our lease agreement is joint and we write checks for paying rent from our joint bank account, and each month we alternate who writes and signs the check and we have copies of them. My wife is on my health insurance and car insurance. We have a car in both our names. Her name is on the power bill as well. We have plenty of photos and travel documents as we go abroad to visit her family quite often, another proof of our togetherness. So, is it ok for my finances to be this way, with me having the savings account and another account under my name and a joint account with only part of our finances? Any advice would be good, I keep worrying about it now!

Add her name to the accounts now. It does not matter if half of your income goes into the joint account especially if different bills are paid from different accounts. (Although it is would have been better to have her name on all). Who signs the checks is not important at all as long as joint money (for the most part) pays for joint bills - hence joint liability. In all of our years together I think my husband the USC has signed about 1 of our checks EVER. Good luck! :)

USCIS is looking to absorb the whole picture, not tell you how to live your lives. The issue of joint finances is to show that you trust each other.

If you had no joint accounts and just created them right before filing I-751 it might give USCIS pause I don't think you'll have a problem with this one items that's not 100% what they're looking for.

Possibly if the joint account had only pocket change in it, or wasn't actively used, you might have a minor issue. Doesn't sound like that's the case.
