I-864 question

Hi,

Apologies if this has been unambiguously addressed elsewhere!

My wife (US citizen) and I have been married for 8 years and are planning to move to Madison soon and are applying for our IR-1 visa via DCF at London. My medical was a couple of weeks ago so the only remaining step is the trip to the embassy!

My question about the I864 form is how to present our assets.

As we've not moved yet we only have assets in the UK which are as follows:

> £100K equity in our house (in both our names)

> £50K savings (in both our names)

When we move to the US my wife won't be working as I have found employment (conditional on my Green Card being approved).

the value of our assets isn't an issue but I'm just not sure how to show this (especially as it is all UK based)... Can I count my assets even though I'm not a US citizen? Can I just show our joint accounts and the sale price of our house minus the outstanding mortgage? As everything is joint can I just present it all as my wife's assets and convert to a $ amount? The cash can be transferred at the click of a button and the equity in our house is almost liquid! We also have a joint bank account in the US which has a small amount of cash in it... We also could perhaps ask her family to be our joint sponsor but that would be a last resort!

Any advice about how to present this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
