Do I need a K-1 to marry a person in the US if I have no intention to stay in the US and change my status after marriage?

We plan to live in my country. It seemed the immigration in my place has a catch-22 situation that doesn't allow her to come here on a one-way ticket, so the best arrangement is to marry her in the US first then apply for the immigrant visa in my country... However, in this situation, is a K-1 still necessary?

Dunno how easy tourist visas are to get from Hong Kong to the US, but you can absolutely do that.

Tourist visas are easy to get here, but is that legal? I want to clarify on this section of the law.

Yes it is perfectly legal. No problem there at all. Just do not indicate to the Visa officer at the consulate, or POE that you intend on marriage in the USA or they will deny you the visa, and/or entry at the POE.

Many do marry and then return home either to apply for K3, CR-1, or in your case the US Citizen moving to the foreign country.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

I don't know why people think that marrying on a tourist visa is illegal. *shrug*

As long as you don't conceal the reason for the tourist visa, and have no intent to stay in the states after the wedding, there's nothing illegal about it.

I suppose it doesn't jeopardize when I need to apply a K-3/CR-1 latter in life?

No! Apply some logic and common sense to it.. think about how many visitors get married in Vegas for example (a show I just saw said one chapel is doing 15K ceremonies a month?!).

It is legal to come to the US for the express purpose of getting married---as long as you intend to leave as agreed by your visa or VWP (where applicable) or other non-immigrant entry doc.
