CR-1 Visa stuck at providing civil document stage, desparately need help!

Hi All,

I have filed the CR-1 Visa petition for my wife, NVC has already assigned a case number and I have already paid the IV fee and submitted the DS-260. However, when I submitted the civil documents (with original documentation) to NVC. They have waited 60 days to review those documents and replied that my wife's birth certificate, our marriage certificate, and the criminal record were not from the correct authorities! There are certain chinese pinyin words that they are looking for I guess........

I have contacted NVC twice regarding to this matter, I was trying to explain it to the NVC representative the first time that those are authentic documents and they said they will have someone to look at it. So, I have waited for a week and there is no response. I called the 2nd time and this time they said that I need to send in a notarized document. But, the original document is on their hands. I will need to request them to send the original documents back to me, get it notarized, and send it back to them. The worst thing is, I will have to get back to the end of the line and wait for another 60 days.....

My frustration is, it seems there is some sort of miscommunications or misunderstood from NVC that I have no clues what they are looking for as a valid document?! I don't want to listen to some random representative, send it a document, and wait for another 60 days to get further notice! Why do they have to make it so difficult for us? Isn't a year and half separation already tough for us??

So, at this point I don't know what options I have for this application process. Does hiring a lawyer helps? What can they do at this late stage? Any help is much appreciated.
