Nvc and visa specialist

My case was forwarded to the embassy from nvc last thrusday the 25th and I know we have to wait a couple of days to contact a visa specialist or the nvc to at least get the interview day. For the dominican republic, the embassy schedules the interview. Today I noticed an update on my case on the nvc website and I was hoping that was because my interview had already been schedule.. Well after contacting NVC and a visa specialist they were no help. The visa specialist told me that they do not handle k-1 visa so I should contact NVC which i did. After waiting 40 mins for a representative, she told me that they forwarded the case to the embassy which I was already aware of and that they do not hold records of the interview date. So basically I have to contact the embassy and pay 8 dollars for a case update... I need to know when the interview is because I have to be present during the interview and flights to the DR can get quite expensive.

Has anyone else had the same experience. Some feedback would be appreciated.

I emailed them last week. Still waiting for their response!! This is so frustrating to wait for them to answer!! The closer I am the most nerve racking this all gets!! Im just shocked that the NVC nor the visa specialist couldnt give me any info!

For peace of mind you might call then. But I had to call several times to get my date. It's 7$ a call chatted to your credit card but the best money I ever spent. We were able to plan accordingly with that info.
