Hi all. I am a person that likes to plan ahead and I heard for the UK embassy you have to have your shot records, police certificates, ect ect. my fiancé was born in Scotland but has African roots. He left Scotland about 9 years of age to Africa, resided there until early 20's then moved back to the UK to date. Will he need to get police certificates from Ghana? Trying to help him stay ahead as trying to get things from Ghana can be snail mail. Any advice? He has no record of any kind but, I know the embassy likes to have the proof of that.

When London gets his case file, they will mail him a letter inviting him to apply for his visa. It will have this link to his instructions. http://london.usembassy.gov/iv_15.html

Start reading all there is to learn by following that link, and the links offered on that page plus the ones in the left and right columns. You have to click around when it says "for more information" because things you need to know are covered on many pages.

If you have further questions you should ask in the UK Forum http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/99-united-kingdom/ because each consulate has different procedures. Bookmark it.

A planning list for London is also found in the UK FORUM pinned thread for K1s http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/474161-london-k1-a-complete-guide/

Lots to read and learn.
