Hello my fellow K1ers!

So, my SO and I are currently in the process of filling out our first batch of paperwork to apply for K1 status. So far it's fairly straight forward our biggest at the moment is making sure we have everything perfectly in order. But here's where I'm finding myself a bit confused, I was married before, now divorced, the divorce was finalized about six months ago separation occurred nearly two and a half years ago. Since the divorce was finalized I have kept my ex husbands last name solely for convenience sake. I have all of the documents required to prove that the marriage happened and the divorce has been finalized i.e. marriage certificate, divorce order and divorce certificate. What I'm wondering is, if me maintaining my ex husbands last name is going to cause any grief or confusion throughout this K1 process? I have my original birth certificate, and a copy of the marriage certificate from that marriage which has my maiden name.

Now, one last item...when my ex and I applied for our divorce he filed using my maiden name. This caused us some trouble because I hadn't changed my last name back to my maiden name. After some hoop jumping and a few extra pieces of paperwork the divorce could continue, the only thing is the divorce order and certificate have my maiden name not my current last name (ex husbands). I'm wondering if my other official documents i.e birth certificate, marriage certificate will be enough to sort out this name change situation? Or, should I just change my last name back to my maiden name? This is an easy process, just time consuming and we were hoping to get our K1 filed ASAP.

I hope this post isn't to confusing and the way I laid out my situation is clear. Input and info on all of this would be greatly appreciated!

thanks so much!
