Hello,

My fiancee is a Hong Konger and is about to go to the consulate for her interview for her K1 visa (in about a week), and she will be required to show my affidavit of suport at that interview. I thought we would have no troubles with this, but I recently found out I am required to send a tax return as well as proof of income. I have read in some places that I have to meet 125% of the poverty guideline both this year and on my last year's tax return. I have just started as a graduate student, receiving a $30,000 stipend. So, I meet the income requirement, but because I did not work the full previous year, my tax return shows only $10,000 for my income last year. So my question is: will my current years income be enough (a letter from my school indicating my stipend and anticipated years of attendence)? Or will I need a joint co-sponsor because my tax return only says $10,000? If I need a co-sponsor, I will be placed in a difficult position, because both of my parents are unemployed and on social security.

I hope someone can help, as we have already spend well over a year trying to get our application through after it was lost for six months...

Please help!

Thank you
