How long do you have to stay in a place for it to be considered residence?

Shall I just list all places I stayed at for long time say more than 6 months whilst traveling and working?

I have listed all my places of work whilst travelling so do I need to match the places I worked to where I lived?

My permement address has never changed.

The applicant's residence for the last 5 years doesn't have to be more than 1 year. If you are about to file now, you have to list your addresses from April 2009 to present There is another field below this asking for the "address outside US of more than 1 year". Only if you don't have any temporary address that you stayed in for more than a year, it would be your permanent address. Best that your addresses match or are consistent with your employment location.

Thanks. So I moved from place to place sometimes travelling inbetween and at one point returning home for a few months. How do I list this as it says there cannot be any gaps in time?

Ok so this is my residence for the last 5 years. My work history also matches this. According to this table what would I put for the "address outside US of more than 1 year" field? Also because I was in Australia for over a year on tourist then working visa does this matter?

Thanks appreciate any help.

I'm not going to check the geographical correctness, you know better. :) Your chronology of time period looks good. The important part is you're not missing any in enumerating where you were for the last 5 years. Since they look like they don't fit in the form, it's better for you to place these info in a separate sheet as a supplement to G-325a. You can simply type "please see attachment" in the actual form field. The embassy might ask for your passport stamps that correspond to your entry and exit from these countries later on in your embassy interview. So be ready with that, just in case.

Regarding staying without working visa in Australia for some time, it doesn't matter, as long as you didn't break any law. It might be asked though during your interview. Later on, during the embassy interview stage, you will have to obtain police certificates of countries which you are not a citizen of and which you stayed at for 12 months or more (more info in US embassy london website).

 Missed this question. If you're going to submit the G-325a soon, looks like it's Australia.

I think so too however my time in Australia was split between two addresses and the "applicants last address outside the US of more than 1 year" field only has space for 1 address. Would it not be my UK home permanent address as this was the last time I spent over a year in 1 fixed address?

Thanks. Really appreciate all the help.

Andy.

I never had to request for a police certificate in my case. But from what I know police certificates are from the country itself, not from towns/ province / state. You could most likely inquire from the Australian embassy in UK. Or you can probably get more focused answers if you post your question in the UK forum: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/99-united-kingdom/

Good luck! :)
