Hello,

Background: I am a 26 year old MBA student currently completing my internship requirement. Last year I applied for visiting visa around the same time and gathered the required documents. The main reason for travel was to attend the wedding of my cousin who had invited me and provided supporting documents. I am also a working partner at a education center and that is my main source of income. I had documents necessary to support the claims.

Upon arriving for the interview, the interviewer asked me the reason for my visit and I truthfully answered. However, she then went on to ask questions which really didn't make much sense. One of which was, why would you visit your cousin and she not visit you instead. I replied that it won't be possible for her to do so under current circumstances. She then asked me when was the last time I had met her, I answered that truthfully too, which was about 6 years ago. She then claimed that I don't have enough connection with the cousin and hence attending the wedding wasn't necessary.

She didn't ask me anything about my current status in terms of job or financial security. None of the documents taken were demanded and within less than 3 minutes, she denied the visa stating not enough reason to justify return.

Question:

I am determined to visit the US this time around and I am planning to apply again. However, the reason this time around will be purely for leisure and tourism. I am financially well off and can show regular inflow of income for over the past 1 year. I also have investments in terms of Bank Instruments worth around 30K USD. The documents for those are available. My job is stable and I honestly don't have any intention of staying back.

I was wondering if anyone could suggest me what should I do differently this time around to avoid a rejection. The appointment letters and letter of leave can be provided too, but since I am part of the small scale company and it isn't an MNC, it becomes difficult to establish credibility.

Also, I have approached agencies who perform the application process on my behalf and it seems they too are planning to take a shot in the dark. I understand that the interview is the make or break part of the whole process, so again, I need advise on what should be the best way to approach and place my case for visit and show enough evidence for my return.

If it helps, I have traveled around 5 different countries when I was much younger and I was born in South Africa. The travel evidence is available in my old passports.

Thanks in advance.
