Question in regards to Notification of Applicant Readiness form

Good Morning VJ'ers


So close to the finish line, but I have one more quick question that I'm curious on.


We're about to submit the Notification of Applicant Readiness form, as we have everything ready except for the medical (scheduled Wednesday March 12th), and I have a question in regards to the comment below.


" I understand that one person may accompany me to my visa interview. He/she is my spouse, fiancé(e), parent, adult child, carer or interpreter. He/she must present photo ID on the day of the interview."


My fiancee's mother is traveling with her for the interview. She had planned on just getting coffee and waiting for her during the entire process outside the embassy, but after reading the comment below, it does say a parent may attend.


Is this correct for a K1 visa? Can her mother actually sit with her in the embassy for support? I know she's not traveling with her when she flies, but I wasn't sure if that comment was correct on parent can attend for K1.


Any thoughts? Any one else try this or was your guest with you normally just fiancee?


I'm going to email and ask the embassy as well.

Married:  October 2014

Adjustment of status paperwork sent:  End October 2014

Biometrics:  November 2014

Letter from USCIS telling us backlog, expecting an answer in 6 months:  Feb 2015

Interview with USCIS:  August 2015.  Agent says will be approving

Receive Greencard:  Sep 2015

File for Removing of Conditions:  7/27/17

NOA1 Letter:  Dated 8/1, receive 8/5

When you pay your MRV fee, it asks for the persons details accompanying you. There shouldn't be an issue with a relative. Although there are plenty of establishments nearby, and you are now allowed your cell phone in the embassy, should she change her mind.

K1 AOS:

May 22nd: Sent away AOS package Day 1

May 27th: Notification via text/email confirming receiving package. Day 5

May 29th: NOA's recieved on 29th May Day 7

June 2nd: Biometrics appointment for June 16th arrives. Day 11

June 16th: Successful Biometrics. Day 24

Wow the embassy replied extremely quick. No on the parent. Here was their reply

Thank you for your inquiry.
To clarify, visa applicants over the age of 18 can only be accompanied to their visa interview by their petitioner, by a carer if they are disabled and require assistance, or by a translator if they are unable to speak and understand English.
Ah well, her mother figured she'd be hanging out around the embassy regardless. Hopefully this info helps someone else as well.

My bad, but I would still try. This is the same email service who told me I would have to restart the visa process because I renewed my passport..(which is utter pish)

K1 AOS:
