After the earthquake in Taiwan we haven't been able to hook up to Yahoo. Anyone else from PI or asia for that matter been able to video and voice chat with Yahoo?

We've been able to chat in Yahoo IM since then, but the connection isn't good and video is iffy. The cables probably haven't been repaired yet. My phone txt msgs are usually delayed or even lost.

Hi,

Yes My wife Lorna is in Cebu and when she is able to connect and we start talking/typing, something happens and all of a sudden she doesn't respond.... I say "hey are you there?" then nothing... then she will type..."hey where are you?" Then after a few minutes it will start working again....

In fact our communication got so bad I was getting mad thinking she was playing some game or something. :bonk::devil: Then we figured out that we were having Yahoo problems and now everything is fine between us. (L):dancing:

But man! it caused us to get weird at each other for a while, hehehe.

So if you can't get on right now, maybe that's a good thing. :innocent:

Can't reach her on her cell phone either, but we can text message each other.

Mike

Hey Mike,

Jinky is also in Cebu. I can get through to her cell phone (Globe Lines) but the connection isn't that good and I haven't been able to get through to her landline since the quake.

Interestingly, she's able to reach me though. We've found it cheapest for her to buy phone cards there and ring me. We can talk for 40 minutes on a 100 Peso card ($2).

It's through Globe Lines - there are certain conditions - one that she have a landline/business (I think). We tried another company that was comparable but every 5 minutes, she had to press a button on the phone or the call would be automatically cut-off. That got be real annoying.

That's about 5 cents/minute if you are really getting 40 minutes. What phone card does she get, and where does she get it?

I'm sure they are fixing cables as they go, and it will get progressively better over the next 2 or 3 weeks until it's back to "normal", however good that was.

I know this is a late topic but I just wanted to reply re: cheap call card from PI anywhere in US... I've been using PLDT Budget Card ever since it's out in the market, it has 33 minutes for only PhP100.00 ($2). Very dependable and cheap...
