Hi everyone

I would like to apply for a GC for my father. I have a couple of issues. My father has a visitor visa that is expiring next year. He has been coming every year for 6 months to visit us since 2009. So after he goes back this time in August he plans to go for renewal of his visitor visa.

My first question is if I send in his paper work in Feb for GC application, will his visitor visa renewal be affected.

My second question is how long from submitting the documents does GC approval take. I was wondering if anyone can give me their experience. This will help me decide when to apply. My mother has passed away and I don't have proof of their marriage registration but I have stamp paper notarized affidavits from two witnesses as well as stamp paper notarized document from my father as well as death certificate

Thanks in advance..please to let me know as I want to get the documents done in a timely manner

Seem he been partially living in the US since 2009, it will not affect his

petition for residency, but renewal?...hope for a lenient Consular its

obvious he's taken advantage of the tourist visa because although one

is allowed to stay up to 6 mths "not on every occasion one should" It

shows departing to re-enter
