Hi Everyone,

Does anyone have a timeline or a list of steps that need to be taken AFTER the NVC sends your package to London? (i am sure its listed in an old post somewhere but i cant seem to find it). We are at the stage where I got a letter from the NVC that the application is being sent to London.

So far i got my fiance to renew is passport (since it expires soon) and he sent off his information to get the police report which he should get in two weeks. I have my stuff ready like the I134 and tax returns / employer letter ready!

My question is, do we just wait to be contacted by the embassy or should he go ahead and schedule his medical once he gets the police report? Apparently we cant submit for DS-160 unless he schedules the medical so at this point we just wait? So everything is on hold until he gets his medical done.

Please let me know if anyone has any information or if i am missing any forms/steps :).

The medical needs the police report and you need the case number which I assume you have. If you reckon he will have the police report in 2 weeks then you can schedule the medical, there is normally a 2 week wait anyway.

I think the offical line is you wait for the so called packet 3 from the embassy telling you what to do.

For my part once I saw on CEAC site that the case was in transit I got my medical done and sent all my forms in, this was before DS160 and what have you though.

What he can do is make sure he has all the required documents for the interview, long form of birth cert, divorce decree if needed, military record if needed and so on. get copies made, they will need to see originals but only keep copies at the embassy.

1) Go to https://ceac.state.gov/ceac/, go to the "Immigrant" section and hit "Check My Visa Application Status". Put your LND Number in the field there. It'll say one of two things - "In Transit" or "Ready". If "In Transit" it means your case is on its way to London. If it says "Ready" it means London have it and are ready for you to start sending stuff. Ignore whatever it says about NVC scheduling interviews - that's for other visa types, not K1s.

2) As soon as you have your LND number, you can not only fill out DS-160 and print the confirmation, but schedule your medical. It's wiser to do this once your CEAC status goes to "Ready" because then London is aware of you and things are less likely to go missing. As far as the Medical goes, you can schedule it for a couple of weeks ahead to give the Police Certificate time to arrive.

3) Once the medical is scheduled, as long as you are confident you'll attend on that date and you have everything else you require (Long-form Birth Certificate+copy, I-134+evidence, Police Certificate+copy, completed DS-160 and printed out the confirmation page, any previous Marriage and Divorce Certificates, Military Records if applicable and Deed Poll if applicable) you can fill out the Applicant Notification of Readiness Form here: http://london.usembassy.gov/iv/notification_of_applicant_readiness_form.html

After this, it's just a waiting game of sorts. London's not been too good with the interview letters recently for whatever reason so to play it safe, keep an eye on your CEAC status. Once the "Case Updated" field changes to the current date (or day before), ring the Department of State to ask what the update was. If it's your interview date being assigned, they'll tell you there and then. At that point, you can pay the visa/MRV fee and the home delivery fee if you want the visa delivered. But that system is a different kettle of fish and it would be better to explain it once you reach that point.

That said, we (being myself and Nich-Nick) have a new guide coming out within the next couple of days hopefully which is essentially a complete runthrough of Pre-NOA2 to Post-Interview, so all this info will be in there too.

Thank you guys!! both of your posts were very helpful. I have read that london is really slow and not to wait but just wanted to double check. We have all the documents ready except for the police report and medical so we should be ok. Also i checked on the status and it says "READY" so im guessing London is just sitting on the documents and not doing anything.

Follow up question - so the DS-160 can be filled out at anytime or AFTER i schedule the medical?

Any time. Especially now your status is at "Ready".
