I have made at least 4 infopass to the location office about my interview date because my husband was going on a military training and had to leave in two weeks, meanwhile I was still on the "RFE review" stage according to the USCIS website (I received my EAD on Sept 5th 2013 and had been waiting for over three month for the interview notice).

What I was told by the nice local officer is that: it really depends on the local office 's work load. So normally after all your basic information is reviewed at National benefit center or other nation level center, it will be put in scheduling for interview waiting list, however, they can only send certain amount of file to the local office basing on their work load. Therefore, if you local office is really busy, your file might still be in the national center waiting for delivery. If that is the case, you have to request the local office to ask for your file specifically from national center, however I doubt they will do that because they did not even request for us (basing on military change of station expedite request).

I got my interview notice after my husband already departed for a 6 month training and I went on the interview by myself and got approved. The local officer was really nice.

So I think only if you have very urgent reason for expediting your interview, you can make info pass to see where is your case and if they will expedite for you. Otherwise just have to wait patiently.

ps. I got my interview notice after waiting for three month, it was really long!
