Good afternoon.

I currently hold a Visitor Visa (10 year) to Ghana. I recently got married and changed my passport. I have contacted the Ghanian embassy and they don't seem to understand my question.

How do I get my Visa changed into my married name? Do I just bring along my old passport (with the Visa in it) and a copy of my marriage license?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I don't know how it works for Ghana visas but generally, when my passport expired while still having a valid visa that works beyond the expiry of my old passport I never had to renew the visa. Instead, I just attached the old expired passport to my new passport and carried both when I traveled. Philippine passports had a short life at 5 years and had to be renewed often. I did this for several visas and had 3 passports stapled together at one point because the visa was attached to a passport that was twice renewed.

If you are concerned about the change of name, you can just carry a copy of your marriage certificate to prove status change and justify the name change on your renewed passport.

Sein oder Nichtsein, das ist heir die Frage.
