Hi All,

I am a Indian Living in Italy and planning to attend interview for CR-1 at a US consulate in Italy.

I read that we need Original or Certified copy of Marriage and Birth certificates.

I am confused, I know that in Europe all certificated from other countries need to have an Apostille seal as well. Do we really need a Apostille seal on the certified or original certificates that one needs to submit during interview at the US consulate ?

Secondly my Birth certificate is a certified copy but I obtained it 2 years ago while I was in India. Do I need a fresh certified copy or will the old one be sufficient ?

Thanks,

~Waltee

Hi waltee, I believe you do have to have that stamp or seal on your mariage certificate. I had to do this as well, and you will have to have at least a copy of your birth certificate and marriage certificate because you should have sent the originals and a copy to them with your IV packet. Your Birth certificate should be good as well as long as it has that seal. unless it has expiration date on it. Just remember if you did not send originals with IV packest bring them with you as well as copies.
