Hi everyone!! I have a question about the I-134 and having a co-sponsor.....i currently am unemployed and have a co-sponsor with more than enough income to show...my question is do i still need to provide income evidence when i submit my I-134 or just put unemployed and give nothing and let the co-sponsors income be the only income showing??

Thanks in advance....my interview is sept 29.

Hello, I too was unemployed and we had a person whose income was enough. All I had to submit were my proof of income for the years I did have a job. I submitted 2006, 2007, and 2008 tax returns and my sponsor submitted the most recent tax return (2012). If you did not have any income then you still have fill out the affidavit of support form.

Quick question:

I thought they only took into account the previous year's income.

Not the years (before 2012) when the person was actually employed.

Is this consulate specific?

I was wondering the same thing.....

Yes, they do take the previous year. I had not worked at all in 2010, 2011, or 2012. Me submitting the years I did work was proof of citizenship. On the form that I had to sign it asks for income. We used a lawyer. I had nothing to hide and wanted things done right the first time. We had no RFE's. And I did speak with a representative at the USCIS and they told me I had to fill out the affidavit of support even though am unemployed. If I didn't then it would raise red flags. Who wants to intentionally raise a red flag? The process is already draining from start to finish.
