Travel during ROC Application

Received a permanent resident card after a K1 Visa.

My initial ROC application went in last Sept. (My work and travel extension expires Dec 2013.)

Finger printing in Jan

Request for more evidence in June

New evidence package was received by USCIS on August 7th.

I am a Canadian Citizen, my husband is american - unfortunately the marriage ended due to his drug use and we were separated at the time of ROC application and are now divorced.

So, currently just waiting to hear back from the new evidence package - my lawyer suggested it takes about a month after they receive the new evidence for the next step to happen. (I'm in California)

I have a potential business trip Sept 1-8th outside the country. If a negative decision were to come back before I'm back in the country - I'm told that nullifies the travel extension.

I'm trying to confirm whether it would be safe to travel this close to a potential decision?

What are the chances that there will even be a decision?

If a negative decision were to come back between today (Aug 28th) and Sept 8th would I really be refused re-entry at the border?

Is there anything I can do ensure that I can take this trip and return to the US on the 8th?

I have never seen ROC denial after RFE. If they are not sastified, usually they request for 2nd RFE or an interview.

this is just my observation, you should consult your lawyer.
