CEAC Visa status check

Just looking at my CEAC status (i do this several times a day hoping the date will change) and for a change actually read what it says underneath.

"Your case is ready for your interview when scheduled at the U.S. Consular section. If you have already scheduled an appointment for an interview, please prepare your documents as directed in your appointment letter and appear at the consulate on the appointed date and time. Otherwise, please wait until you have been notified of your interview appointment. Additional information about how Immigrant Visa interview appointments are scheduled can be found at:http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3731.html"

IS this just the standard wording or does it change depending on the status?

Does this mean that everything is ready and I'm just waiting for them to schedule the date?

I've called the extortion line a few time in the last couple of weeks and always get the same "6 weeks to process and 3 weeks before you here". Tried to call again today but they are too busy.

Is there anyway other way to find out if an appointment has been scheduled?

This whole process is making me nervous and I'm getting really impatient.

It's standard wording. It says that all the way from when they send Packet 3 through to the Interview. It's really disappointing. :(

You can call the Department of State line to find out if you've had an interview date allocated.

The 'extortion line' read from a script. Whenever I phoned them, it was always '6 weeks'. Everything was 6 weeks!

As Lost says, phone DOS. If you use Skype (other low cost phone suppliers are available), it will turn out a lot cheaper AND I find they are more helpful and have better info.

At least you know now! So much better than the guessing. You've got a date you can actually start planning around.
