Just wanted to add "typically" to Reba's comment. There are three degrees of Gardnerian Wicca. 1st degree initiates wear the pentacle with one point up. 2nd degree initiates wear the pentacle with two points up. 3rd degree initiates wear the pentacle with one point up.

In other trivia, a pentacle with two points up and a goat head superimposed on the pentacle is a Baphomet. That is the typical satanic pentacle.

The pentacle used in Wicca and other Pagan religions usually stands for Earth, Air, Fire, Water, and Akasha. Akasha is a term stolen from Hindu which means "sky"or "Aether". It is generally considered to represent "Spirit" by a majority of Pagans. Akasha is almost always attributed to the "top" point. When the pentacle is inverted, you are putting earthly matters over "Spirit". This coincides with the teachings of the second degree in Gardnerian Wicca as well, where earthly matters are taught before returning to "Spirit" in the 3rd degree.

Just some useless trivia for you.

Have you seen one surrounded by a PENTAGON (like the pentastar of erstwhile Chrysler Corp)? Note, while I don't like Chrysler products generally (their quality justifies one of the namebrands being "dodge"), I just associated the pentastar with shoddiness and the three-point-star of Benz with quality. Rather interesting to consider both together as now one company. :lol: :lol:
