Hi all! We sent in packet 3 June 16th and still no interview date sad.png We emailed them 7 days ago and haven't heard back. Is this normal? I did check the CEAC and it said the status was updated yesterday. Hopefully thats a good thing!

Immigrant Visa Case Number: LNDXXXXXXXXXX Case Creation Date: 07-Jun-2013 Status Updated Date: 15-Jul-2013

Amber, I have a similar timeline to you. I think your status being updated on the 15th is a good thing! I hope you get your interview date soon!

Also, I second encoding your case number.

Phone DOS on 1-202-663-1225

tell them that you see that your file was updated yesterday and ask if they can tell you why it was updated. They are usually very helpful.

PS - suggest you edit your post and take out your LND number.

Thank you!

They said that everything is ready for us to be scheduled for an interview but we have not received an interview date yet. I asked her if she knew when we would know but she said she wasn't sure. That they schedule all of the interview dates at a certain date each month. No idea why they are being so slow when we sent out packet three a month ago sad.png

Timeline

I didnt put a wedding date either, mostly because i have a lot to do here with the house sale and preparations for the move and didnt want the visa too soon,it looks like im going to have to rent my home after the house sale fell through last month, just as we thought everything was going smoothly and the sale seemed perfect timing, my buyers buyer backed out !

Once i have the visa in hand,im booking a flight and handing in my notice at work ( pessemistic or sensible ? ) , then clearing out the last of my furniture to friends and charity,i have sold or given away pretty much everything i dont need.Im leaving with just two suitcases.

Finally if the house isnt sold soon ,which i doubt it as the interview is in 2 weeks time aug 1st, and if what ive read is accurate,i should have the visa in a month from now ,then i book a flight, and the house will be left empty but nicely decorated in an Agents hands to rent, and im gone !! stress is the understatement !! I still have a mortgage so its a worry,

The trouble ive found with the visa process is that you cannot plan anything perfectly because you are dealing with people, you get treated like a mushroom and kept in the dark, delayed by RFE,or backlogs of applicants, receive letters that conflict with the website info, helplines that charge a fortune and dont help that much anyway, and then if you own property or /and have assets you have the problem of deciding when to cut the cord with your life here ? Do you do it before you get the visa so you are good to go, or after you get the visa like their website advises you to do ( well you never know for sure ) ? then you have 3 months after entering the US to get married, the UK gives 6 months,i even read recently that the 6 month k-1 visa starts from the time of the medical, which means that i have to enter the US before dec ? Everybody gives advice, much of it conflicting, some friends you havent seen or heard from in ages, suddenly appear to tell you that the decorating looks good and, did you do it all by yourself ?,then they say we will have to come visit you over there.

But it will all work out in the end, others survived the process, and their reassurance and advice on here is much appreciated,

You are being impatient and you will hear soon :P

However, I was exactly where you are now about 8 weeks ago. It is very difficult not to be impatient. It has taken us so long to get here and we feel so close to the end.

I sent my DS-2001 on 15 May. Had my medical on 30 May. And the appointment letter was sent on 4 June. My interview was 18 June.

Have you spoken to DOS at all to see what the latest update to your file was?

hehe, thanks Anna! I did call them last week and they said that it all looks 'ready to be scheduled', but the adviser on the end of the phone didn't mention my DS-2001. Do they log that and update CEAC?

I had my medical on the 5th July, sent the DS-2001 on the 11th of July and it was signed for (I sent it recorded delivery) on the 12th July. No updates on CEAC since the 10th July. Feeling so impatient!

Did you put a wedding date or anything? If you didn't, maybe they assumed you're not in a rush and made you a non - priority.

Just an idea.

I put that my fiance and I wanted to be married in the last week of August because my family work in Education. I probably should have put an exact date in retrospect but I was worried about being chastised during the AOS because we haven't booked anything or made plans in concrete. You might be right though, they might have logged my case as non-urgent. I will wait patiently ;).
