I'm hoping to travel back to the UK for Christmas now that I have my greencard, but I would like to get my passport renewed in my married name, so the name matches the one of the greencard. I was looking at the application for applying for a British Passport for Overseas Customers: Section 2 where it asks for my parents information.

Given that I'm a British citizen, born in the UK before 1982, and already have a valid passport, that is good for another 7 years, do I need to complete this section?

I'm pretty sure I don't, but I want to be sure before I fork out the money.

No you don't, in the information leaflet that accompanies the passport application form it says you only need to complete it if:

You're applying for your first passport

Your replacing a lost, damaged or stolen passport

Passport is for someone under 16

You're applying to extend your passport.

You only need to fill in sections 1,2,3,5 and 9 and 4 and 6 if they apply
