Hello! We're preparing our I-129F packet. My fiance was adopted by his aunt and uncle when he was very young. Do we need to include a photocopy of his adoption papers along with his birth certificate? Is it possible to just not include his adoption papers? Any response will be very much appreciated. Thank you very much!

If he listed his aunt and uncle as parents on his G325A, I would suggest to include it. If not, you do not need to.

You only need to show proof that he is an American citizen. You can do that with either birth certificate or copy of biographic page of passport.

Good luck!

Hi! Thanks for your response. Does that mean we only have to choose between the biographic page of his passport and birth certificate. I thought that both should be included in the packet? I am concerned about the Birth Certificate though because he uses his uncle's surname now and I am not sure about his real parents' names on the birth certificate. I believe all B.C's are the same right? Our parents name are written on it.

If his name on the birth certificate is different from the name he is using right now, then you have to send the adoption papers to prove name change.

Yes, you can choose to send either the birth certificate or copy of all the pages of valid passport to show citizenship. Check K1 guide here: http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1guide
