Hey guys newbie here! So please go easy! I have lived overseas off and on since 2006 (in South Africa), but I haven't work. I was a student for three of those years, and the other time I struggled to find any type of employment. I didn't file any tax return because I have NO income. What must I do for the last 3 tax returns (which I don't return) Is there a letter I can write and explain my situation? I can attach my study visas in my passport as proof I was studying.

You can always file back taxes as student with no income to get tax returns.

You provide proof via IRS papers stating why you did not have to file taxes, fill out the forms and include the proof as to why you didn't file. Have a co-sponsor with proper income fill out the forms and include their proof.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

Thanks Inky,

Do you know how long it takes to file back taxes? Can I do it online? Or should I go into an H&R Block the next time in the USA and get it done there?

Thanks again!

I'm not sure iv never had to file back taxes =( Check the IRS website, They seem to have a free e-filing if you are under a certain amount of income thing. Not sure if it would work for back taxes but would be worth looking at!

We have used H&R personally every year since 2009 because of the ease of filing taxes with out of country credits etc.
