Hello,

Here is the situation. We live in us with a Indian passport and green card. We are in the process of name change of our 16 year old son and finished the first step of getting the court order which says he can officially use his new name from May, 4 2013. So we will apply for a name change in green card(I-90), after may 4. It seems the current processing time is 3.5 months. we have to go visit our home country on july and return on aug. we might not get his new green card back by then.

Here are my questions.

1. Should we change his passport and apply for a green card with his new name before leaving the country and travel back with court order?

2. Or should we just apply for the name change in green card and travel with old passport and green card and change his passport after coming back.

Please clarify
