So everyone...When did you set a date for your wedding? I know some of you did a civil service and you didn't have to set a date pursay...

But for those of you whose family flew to the states...and you planned an event, when did you set a date?

Was it when you recieved your interview date... or did you wait until after your interview was complete??

Just curious!

I know you can't please everyone...but jeeze I must get asked daily when the wedding is....what month...etc etc...

thanks in advance!

Jon and I set our date after we got our visa, most do because that is what the papers for this process advise, some set their date before and end up having to reset it because of complications of the process, be careful in what you decide, good luck with whatever decision you come too.

Thanks..ya..I don't want to have to reset...but honestly it isn't a big deal for us to wait til we have the visa...

Just anxious to set it.

Chris is going for his medical soon...so we don't have all that much more waiting hopefully!!

Just curious! :star:

Tell them you'll get back to them once you're sure they won't have to spend an extra 100 quid to change their flight because the US government's immigration timeline didn't line up with a premature wedding plan.....

Should quiet them down. ;)

We set ours from the beiginning of the process, I say set but I mean set a target date, based on historical trends. We ended up having to put it back amonth because there was a delay. We didn't confirm any arrangements like flights, venue, marriage officiant, cake, photograopher etc. but we did research and make contact with them all and told them we were aiming for the middle of september but it could be october or even november. I got my visa the day we were initially thinking of getting married, and then we conirmed everything and had the perfect wedding day. It was small but still so many facets that all had to come together perfectly with no glitches. Well...they did! It was perfect!

Goood luck planning your weddng day!

We had a monthly idea for October in our heads after we got NOA2 then when Paul got his interview date we booked October 7th with the church as they didn't have a deposit and we booked with the hall after his interview. Once we knew he was approved I was good paying for the hall as we knew he'd be here well before October 7th. If his affairs took a week longer to settle it wasn't a big deal as we already had the visa and knew he'd be coming in 4 to 6 weeks before the wedding.

And so he did what countless punk-rock songs had told him to do so many times before: he lived his life

10/07/2006 WEDDING DAY!

11/14/2006 AOS packet made it to 'the box' after being overnighted.

12/02/2006 Paul had biometrics

12/14/2006 AOS Forwarded to CSC AND AP Application approved.

01/17/2007 First touch of 2007 at CSC

01/20/2007 Touched AGAIN (also the 18th) come on...

February: Oops, RFE for a REGISTERED marriage certificate. Oops! Overnighted it.

02/28/2007 Paul gets email letting us know his GREENCARD is on it's way! It's done...for now!

03/09/2007 Paul's greencard arrives. And breathe...

We began with mailing the I-129 in on February 27, 2006 so the whole process took us approx. one year.

Good luck out there!

At the beginning we set a target date too. And just planned everything with that date in mind. We were fortunate to find a reception hall that we would only lose $100 on if we had to cancel. Other than that we didn't put any money down on anything else till we had the interview. My friend took the wedding pictures, we had a woman who made wedding cakes on the side make the cake so that it would be easy to change the date. Everyone that we invited, we had their phone numbers too just in case of a cancellation. The date worked out, he was here 3 weeks before (talk about cutting it close)! We kept things simple, but had 200 and it was beautiful and everyone complimented us on it.
