Normally I lock my doors 98% of the time. Last night while we slept, someone(s) went searching through our vehicles, pulled stuff of my wifes glove box, moved stuff around in her car, wasn't anything of real value in there. Did not bother our daughters car. Can't say I blame them, I have been in there, you could get lost. In my truck they pulled stuff from the glove box, the center consol, and stole my zip-up book bag, left the digital camera, a fluke dvm(worth about $400.00, a car cleaning kit, cd's. Maybe they also want to take a biblical studies course. I figured they were looking for keys. WHo knows, there was a new shop vac, mop bucket, tool pouch with tools and a broom in the back. They are still there. Only a bag with books was taken.

I had a similar experience in Memphis in 2004. Driver's side window was smashed and stolen from my car were: 1 old (dog-eared, damaged-through-use cover) KJV Bible and two (COPIED) country cassettes. Thief/thieves left undisturbed a road-emergency kit and jumper cables in the boot (which were lots pricier than the stolen items)--which could easily have been popped from a button in the trinket-box, or even by simply unlocking the doors (the car was a VW Jetta) and pressing the external boot-keyhole.

Maybe the thieves wanted to read the BIble, I figured this or thieves thought they were getting a laptop. The bag looked a lot like laptop bag.

Some people smashed my window once and stole my new electric razor. It taught me not to leave things visible.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Crooks were probably on foot and looking for keys. I was lucky, or they were dumb.
