Hi,

Knightsbridge Doctors is the only practice authorised to conduct medicals for the US Embassy, so yes, I'm afraid you definitely do have to go to London for the medical, which is a bit of a pain, especially if you live a fair way away. That said, I had my medical in September and the docter who dealt with me was exceptionally pleasant, friendly and went out of his way to make me feel relaxed.

As for taking the medical and interview on the same day... hmmmmm, yes, I suppose that in theory that would be just about possible. The doctors and the embassy are maybe 20 to 30 mins walk apart, so if you waited until you got an interview date from the embassy, and then you were able to schedule the doctors appointment for the same day, and at a time that wouldn't clash with the interview, it might just work.

But practically, I think it's a recipe for disaster. You have very little idea of how long you need to be at either the embassy or Knightsbridge doctors. If you miss the appointment with the doctors, they'll charge you £80, and the embassy has strict security, so if you're late for that it could cause you a lot of trouble too.

Besides, it takes a few days for your medical results to be forwarded to the embassy, so even if everything went to plan, you wouldn't receive the visa the same day. They'd have to wait for the medical results to come through first.

All in all, my advice is don't even try it. Good luck!

The doctors take roughly 4 days to get the results to the embassy. So, if you have the medical and interview on the same day you could only be approved pending medical results.

Once they got the results they would THEN send out your visa. You could probably add at least a week to your wait for the visa should you choose to do this.

P.S. You never receive the visa the same day even if you have had a medical beforehand. It still takes up to five days usually. Add extra waiting time on top of that should you decide to do both med and interview on the same day.
